It’s spring. I’ve got the itch to get a craft done outside. It just so happens I was on the second week of my husband working late and I wasn’t able to admit that I was tired… I made finger paint, while I made bread, while I mopped the floors…. Here is the recipe I used. I really liked it, other than the fact I BURNT it! So yes you can burn finger paint. ( And nope I didn’t make a second batch. The kids were up from nap and well we were not gonna waste this.)
RECIPE FOR NON TOXIC FINGER PAINT
INGREDIENTS
2 cups water 1/2 cup cornstarch 3 Tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt food coloring for desired colors
DIRECTIONS
1) Combine ingredients in a saucepan on medium. 2) Stir ingredients until thickened, remove from heat, cool. 3) Pour into containers and add food coloring to each one creating desired colors!
Here is how mine turned out:
Now not only did I burn this but I continued on with the food coloring and took the girls outside to paint on it. It was globby and not spreading the best, but they loved it! (They are 3 and 1.)
They start fighting because I only made three colors. Big mistake. In the midst of a fight, my dog Jake comes over and my eyes get HUGE, I say STAY! He is bringing me a dead wood chuck. I praise him. He drops the thing I yell at him to get away from it.
He comes over with blood all over his neck and feet.
Now I have two kids with paint all over and a dog with blood all over…
Just another day here at the Boland Household!!
