Here is my weekly grocery shopping trip. I have to say just by doing this last week our milk was getting really low and I thought I was going to have to run to the store. Instead I told everyone this has to last us one more day! And it did. Now we are down half a gallon already and I’m starting to think maybe 2 gallons of milk isn’t enough. We will see.
If you want to see how this series started you can check out last week’s post here.
*I didn’t buy any meat this week because I am using what we have in our freezer. My husband is a hunter so we have lots of venison. I also got two more meals out of my chicken breasts from last week.

KC
We spend $125 a week, we homeschool and so three of us eat at home all day every day and my husband also packs leftovers or sandwiches for lunch. I would say our biggest expense is that my kids eat constantly! After breakfast they need snack after lunch they need snack after supper they need snack! We do apples, oranges, grapes, celery, carrots all the good stuff and they also get some not so healthy snacks too. They just won’t stop eating! lol

HAHa I know how that is. I feel the same way! How can they possibly still be hungry!! I wish my husband had a microwave at work we would save even more money if he could bring left overs to heat up!
Jann cobb
impressive!

Thanks Jann! I am glad because to me I am still thinking that $70 or more is a lot! I am wondering if I can actually have a week where I am not buying something I need to stock up on! We will see where this adventures takes us!
Cassie
I love budgeting! When we budget our dollar seems to go farther. We spent $245 last month on groceries. We need to do a Costco run this month, so this month will be more.

Once you really start to budget it kind of becomes a fun challenge! Great job Cassie!!

I don’t know how you do it. I always try to save as much as possible, but never able to get it done. Awesome job!

Thanks Suzanne! It is not easy. Part of it is not getting to fancy with meals for me. I used to think we should always be eating a salad, sides, and what not but now I know that some nights just the main dish is fine! Also the key thing here which I hope everyone can start to see as we go from week to week is that I have items in the pantry already. So really learning when the price is good enough to stock up is another important way to save money.

Oh my goodness you don’t even want to know. O_o
I *try* to keep our family of 5 down to 200€ a week, which is about $228, but I rarely succeed. There are practically no coupons in France, and no wholesalers. And everything just costs more. In addition we entertain every week (whether it’s a group Bible discussion or an individual study or someone not church-related). If I penny-pinch and go to a discount store and don’t buy anything organic, I can get it down to about 150€ – and these are mostly just the basics (grains, veggies, dairy and meat).
But God provides. It’s not that the salaries are higher in France, because they are not, but somehow we seem to make do. And we really benefit in other areas, like childcare and healthcare.
