  • FREE MOVIE NIGHT! The Corfu Free Library will hold its regular movie night at 6 p.m. This month’s offering is “How to Train Your Dragon” (PG, 102 minutes). For more information, call 599-3321, or visit www.corfufreelibrary.org.

 

SATURDAY 11/22

  • Basket Raffle and Spaghetti Dinner to benefit Bob Knapp of East Pembroke.  Bob has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophagael Cancer.  The event is to take place on Saturday, November 22nd at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Church Hall, 8656 Church St, East Pembroke, NY from 1:00 – 6:30 pm. The Basket Raffle will be from  1:00 – 6:30 and the Spaghetti Dinner from 4:00 – 6:30 pm.  Adults: $10,  Seniors and Children 6-12: $8. Kids 5 and under: Free.  Pre-sale tickets are available or purchase at the door.

    There will also be a bake sale and other items available for purchase.  Baskets and donations are gratefully accepted.  All money donations should be made out to:  All Aboard For Bob.   Please contact (585) 813-4654 for additional information.

  •  Preparing for the Holidays at Genesee Country Village & Museum. Nineteenth-century families needed to start early if they were going to be ready for the holidays. Activities will include tastings; soap making; sausage stuffing; smoking meats and other meat preserving; candle making; wool spinning; gift making and more. The cost is $9.50 for adults, $7.50 for children ages 16 and under; and free for children ages 3 and under. Members are also free. For more information, call (585) 538-6822, or visit www.gcv.org.

 

  • The Polar Express will once again depart from the Medina Railroad Museum each Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22 through Dec. 21. Departure times are 2:30, 3:45, 5 and 6:15 p.m. Tickets range in cost from $25 to $45. Children under 2 ride free. The ride is an hour-long round trip. There is a short stop at the North Pole to pick-up Santa. Tickets are held at Will Call at the museum for you to pick up just before your ride. Please plan to arrive early, about one hour before the ride, to get your tickets before the line gets long. Your ticket includes museum admission and everyone will enjoy the huge model-train layout.   • Book Reading at Richmond Memorial Library. Batavia native Jennifer Gervase Benson will read her children’s book “The Three Little Girls and the Magical Unicorn” at 11 a.m. in the library. Benson, who now lives in Fairport, “loosely based” the book on herself, her older sister, Lorel Gervase, and their cousin, Renee Gervase Price. The book was published through Mascot Books.   • Batavia Players – “One Night Only” Show – 7:30 p.m.  at the Batavia Players Inc., 56 Harvester Ave., Batavia. Directed by Amy Martin. SUNDAY 11/23

  • 2014 Skate and Food Drive. 1-3 p.m. Cost: $1 and 2 cans of food. To benefit the Salvation Army and families in need in our communitySponsored by Batavia Youth Bureau 345-6420 for more info.

 

  • St. Padre Pio Parish is holding their annual Penny Social on Sunday, November 23 at the Elba Fireman’s Recreation Center, Rte 98.  Doors open at noon and drawings begin at 2:00.  Hundreds of baskets, gifts and certificates from local merchants.  Some tickets are only one cent!  50/50 drawing, $100.00 money tree raffle, refreshments and more.  Fun for the whole family.

 

  • Luncheon and Bazaar – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Hall, 10675 Alleghany Rd., Darien Center. Santa will be here. Also, cookie booth, craft vendors, raffles, etc. Lunch will be available for shoppers and non-shoppers. The menu includes homemade soups, chili, hot dogs, barbecue hamburgers, salad and beverage.
