Every time the meal deal comes up everyone is wondering if it is worth it. I will give this current meal deal some credit at least there are some healthy foods in it.
Here is what the current meal deal is at Tops this week!

Here is how much the Chuck Roast is.
Do you see that? $6.49/lb! THAT RIGHT THERE IS NOT A BARGAIN!
But you get 6 items Free??
Know this, Tops will save you money. You just have to know your prices. The most most most important thing with couponing, is to save money right? Well to save money you have to know what is a good deal and what is just pure marketing.
Tops says these carrots are $1.39 for 1 lb.
No no no my friends.
Last week at Aldi the same size bag of carrots was just $0.69! YEP that’s right. That was a bargain. ( I am going to try in the future to post items like this more frequently with a tag saying this is a deal!)
This same cut of meat is $4.59/lb at Save a lot. You would spend $17.21 for 3.75 lbs. ( same weight as shown above)
$4.69/lb. a BJ’s Wholesale Club. And probably cheaper at Walmart and Aldi as well.
In fact I did a meat comparision to these stores check out my posts below on who has the cheapest meat.
The Tops ad says save more than $9.50 which I am not sure how seeing that everything is an average of $1.40 each. But if you are figuring those 6 items cost $9.50 than you will definintly save more money by shopping for the same exact items at Save a lot or Aldi this week.
And Tops is in redeem phase of gas points. And usually I am buying all produce during the non earning times at Aldi!
So it is really really important to know your prices. Start watching all the sales and seeing the cycles and waiting for the deal.
This Meal Deal my friends is not a deal!
What do you think??
